I liken the APEST gifts to ‘organs in the body’. The body being, of course, the Body of Christ. The error of Western Christianity views these gifts as ‘offices in an institution’.

Great read my friend. I also like that you mention not needing an assessment for it!

My assessment numbers came back Apostle-Teacher for the past 4 years because I was starting a network of house churches. However, I’ve been prophetic in my gifting (incredibly immature) for over 10 years now.

Yeah, assessments are definitely signposts, but not compasses. I worked with a guy for 2 years who was multiplying like crazy, but not stabilizing discipling communities. I was so frustrated because these new disciples should have been establishing churches. I had a guy come in and meet with him to help me figure it out and the guys was like - “why are you pressuring him to be an apsotle, pair him up with an A and release his superpower E!”

I was like, holy moly, I’ve been perpetrating APEST malpractice!

Since i released him to focus on E he’s batpized and early disicpled several folks! I missed so bad on that - he always assessed an A.

Learned a hard lesson = Observation > Assessment!

Observation > Assessment so good! The confirmation of the church through community over time is so powerful!
